Summer has arrived in full force here in Minneapolis. Our little suburb of Robbinsdale is full of chirping birds, green grass and leaves, and flowering bushes. Down here in the print shop, we are humming right along with our little window air conditioner. This month’s projects include:

1) Quarterly mailings for an art teacher in Germany and missionaries in Austria. Not only can we print your newsletters, envelopes, donor cards, and other materials; we can also mail them out for you. All we need is an Excel list of recipients and your mailing information, and we can do the work for you!

2) More postcards for Substance church – they emailed us the artwork in a PDF, so we will be setting them up for printing on 100# matte cover stock and then cutting them down to 5.5” x 4.25”, a fairly standard size for postcards that are distributed by hand rather than through the mail.

3) Designing birthday cards to be sold in our sister store, which is a Christian Book & Gift store located in the top of our building. This month’s goal has been birthday cards that are number-specific, and with all the flowers right now it’s a good time to take some photos for the cards! Don’t forget, we can also custom design a card just for YOU — stop by sometime and ask us how it’s done!

Some of the projects moving through Osterhus Printing in Minneapolis in the last few weeks:

1) A couple of design meetings with clients that are in the midst of wedding planning. It’s that time of year again! Invites, save the date cards, programs, name cards, RSVP cards, envelopes – we can help make your wedding printing a stress-free experience! We have several different kinds of paper here to choose from, or you can bring your own and we’ll print on that. Not only do we offer free consultations and reasonably-priced printing, but we can also do any design work you might need.

2) Carbonless forms! Now, they might not sound exciting, but don’t judge too quickly. Never underestimate the powerful feeling one may achieve by printing a job that is over 10,000 sheets, like the run we did for a medical company last week. We can print 2 and 3 part forms, 1 sided or 2 sided, color or black printing, on sheet colors of white/white, white/yellow, white/pink, or white/yellow/pink.

3) Envelopes for office use at Hope Lutheran Church in Minneapolis – we are printing two different sizes, #9 (with window) and #10 (plain), 2500 of each, in a maroon color chosen by the client. We also can do tithes & offerings envelopes, greeting card envelopes, standard invitation envelopes, and booklet and catalog styles.

4) Postcards for Substance Church: they are rolling out a new program and needed promo materials, and we were happy to help! We printed 3,000 2-sided cards, comprising 6 different designs, on 100# gloss cover paper and then cut them down to 4×6″. They provided us with the design files, so we just had to do layout setup and print it – the job was done within 5 business days!

That’s just a few examples of the work we do here. Feel free to stop by sometime and see what else we have to offer!

Hi. My name is Ricoh. I am a digital printer, and I live in the printshop at Osterhus Printing in Minneapolis, MN. I have my own corner of the shop, and two servants to do my bidding whenever I decide I need more ink or paper.

I have lived here at Osterhus for a few years now, and overall, I like it a lot. I print a lot of business cards, flyers, postcards, and basically anything else that needs to have good color and awesome ink coverage. My sidekick, Ikon, lives on the other side of the room, and he handles some printing, too; but between you and me, I’m definitely the superior machine. I’m smarter, faster, and can fold and saddle-stitch booklets…although I will admit that Ikon can do two things that I can’t: print letterhead and trifold brochures.

This week, I’ve done a few interesting things already. I’ve printed out thank-you notes, a couple of carbonless invoice orders, door hangers for a local auto company, business cards, postcards, table seating cards for an upcoming wedding, and proofs of a rifle target.

Oh! I’ve forgotten the most exciting part of my week: I am the star of my own TV show! Actually, that might be a slight exaggeration, but Osterhus DID feature on the Robbinsdale Channel 12 station a few days ago. Monday morning was pretty exciting for the printshop, as we got to meet a couple of people from Channel 12 and show everyone just how we operate. If you would like to see the video that made me famous, follow this: Osterhus on Channel 12

Well, that’s really all I have to say for now. If you would like to know more about me, please stop in and say hi sometime! I love having company, and I’ll be sure my servants take good care of you.

Yours truly,

Ricoh

And here we are, broadcasting live from the office of Osterhus Printing Co. in Robbinsdale, MN, a cute little suburb on the northwest side Minneapolis.

Twenty-twelve is a big year for Osterhus… we are celebrating our 100th year of business! One hundred years at the blue building on West Broadway, providing business cards, letterhead, envelopes, brochures, greeting cards, periodicals, posters, catalogs, books and anything else our customers dream up! We would like to say a huge “thank you!” to Robbinsdale, and to the larger area of Minneapolis, because we couldn’t have gotten to this point without you!

Twenty-twelve is also the year of our online debut. Up until now, the Printing department has been found online via www.osterhuspub.com, which focuses mainly on the Christian Book & Gift Store that is also located in our building. However, we decided it was time to go big or go home, and since we were already home, our options conveniently narrowed to a single choice: big.

So there you have it. Big year, big choices… we are kind of a big deal. But don’t just take my word for it–come on in and see for yourself!
